My hard-working parents used to take my sisters and I on a ski holiday every year when we were growing up. We had some wonderful times at Whistler (long before it became what it is today), Silver Star in Vernon, and Big White in Kelowna. Our favourite mountain was always Big White. I have lots of wonderful memories of skiing in the beautiful powder snow and spring conditions.
Recently, my sisters and I gathered at my Dad's condo in Rutland for a long-overdue family get-together. One sister flew in from Victoria, the other from White Court, Alberta, and I drove up from Summerland. Dad took us to Big White so we could see the changes. It was a beautiful sunny day, just like those days on our ski holidays some 40 years ago. After a great day checking out the mountain, riding the gondola, and enjoying a picnic lunch Dad's wife, Phyllis, had made for us, we made a vow to get together once a year from now on. We're talking about spending a few days at Big White next year! (collapse)
