I visited Victoria in 2006 with my sister from the Netherlands. It was a spectacular long weekend away. I found the city to be extremely wheelchair friendly. I had no trouble navigating the city streets. The people are hospitable, friendly, and extremely helpful. The harbour is a must-see; watching the activity of floatplanes and other water traffic is exciting.
The Parliament building is another great attraction. What an experience. It is a history lesson in itself to visit; walking the halls of this magnificent building and exploring the grounds is very worthwhile. The many stained-glass windows of the House were spectacular.
Walking through the streets of Victoria, visiting the many attractions, exploring gift shops, and, of course, taking in the street entertainment was all wonderful. The Christmas Store is a must, as is Butchart Gardens, with its spectacular gardens. The grounds of Butchart are magnificent and very wheelchair friendly. Taking a ferry ride across to Victoria from the mainland is also exhilarating. You just might see some whales!
Yes, visiting Victoria, B.C.'s capital city, is a must. You won't be disappointed! (collapse)
