OFFICIAL SHARE YOUR B.C. MONTHLY DRAW

CONTEST RULES

The following promotion is intended for play in Canada only, excluding Quebec, and will be construed according to Canadian law. While British Columbia Magazine (Contest Sponsor) welcomes submissions to its Share Your B.C. adventure database from international readers, only adult residents of Canada, excluding Quebec, will be eligible for contest entry.

The Share Your B.C. Monthly Digital Subscription Draw Contest, launched Oct. 3, 2011, is a new contest with a new monthly prize draw. We thank participants for their entries to the Share Your B.C. Parks contest, which closed on Sept. 30, 2011.

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. ENTRANTS MUST HAVE REACHED THE AGE OF MAJORITY.

1. THE PRIZE
Each month, British Columbia Magazine will conduct a random draw to select, from all new entries received in the previous calendar month, one (1) entry to be eligible to win a one-year digital subscription to British Columbia Magazine.* See Rule #4 for winner selection details. The prize includes four seasonal issues of the magazine in digital format. Value of the monthly prize is $14.95 Cdn.

2. HOW TO ENTER
To participate, complete the Share Your B.C. contest online entry form at www.ShareYourBC.com/contest. Participants are asked to describe, in 200 words or less, their Top Thing to Do in British Columbia (an activity in a specific B.C. location), and to submit this along with their full name, mailing address, city, province, daytime telephone number, and email address.

Submissions will be published at the discretion of British Columbia Magazine, and may be edited or condensed for use. By making a submission, entrants: agree to the terms and conditions and privacy policy available at www.ShareYourBC.com/contest; grant British Columbia Magazine the irrevocable and perpetual right to publish their submission along with their first and last initials and city/town of residence; and guarantee that their submission does not violate copyright or infringe the rights of others in any way. Contest entries become the property of British Columbia Magazine.

Participation in this contest constitutes the contestant’s full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Contest Rules. Participants who do not comply with these rules are subject to disqualification. The Contest Sponsor reserves the right to reject entries which contain submissions which it determines in its discretion to be offensive, obscene, or indecent.

Limit one contest entry per person per month regardless of method of entry or number of submissions made to the Share Your B.C. contest. British Columbia Magazine requires that each new entry be accompanied by a new and original “Top Thing To Do in British Columbia” text, and reserves the right to reject entries which it deems in its discretion to be resubmissions of previous entries by the same contest entrant.

3. ELIGIBILITY
British Columbia Magazine welcomes submissions to its Share Your B.C. adventure database from national and international readers. However, to be eligible for the contest, entrants must be legal Canadian residents, excluding residents of Quebec, who have reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence at the time of entry. Employees of Contest Sponsor, its affiliates, marketing partners, suppliers, advertising or promotional agencies, prize suppliers, and the immediate family members (mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, spouse) of, or persons residing in the same household as any of the foregoing persons, are not eligible for the contest. All federal, provincial, and local laws and regulations apply.

4. SELECTION OF WINNERS
Subject to there being at least twenty (20) entries as outlined below, on or about the 5th day of each calendar month*, commencing November 5, 2011 through December 5, 2012 unless otherwise indicated, a random draw will be conducted by the Contest Sponsor or its designee, the judges of the contest, to select one (1) entry to be eligible to win from all eligible entries received by 11:59 pm on the last day of the previous calendar month. Entries will be eligible for one monthly draw only, whichever draw most closely follows the month in which the entries are received. Odds of winning in any particular month’s draw are dependent upon the total number of eligible entries received for that draw. The Contest Sponsor or its representative will attempt to contact the selected entrants by telephone OR e-mail once per day for five (5) business days. If a selected entrant cannot be contacted after five (5) business days, or is contacted but deemed to be ineligible in the Contest Sponsor’s sole discretion, or is unable or unwilling to comply with these rules, that selected entrant will be disqualified and another entry will be drawn. This process may be repeated until an entrant has been declared the winner.

*British Columbia Magazine reserves the right not to conduct a monthly draw if the number of entries in the previous month(s) do not equal twenty (20) or more. In such case, entries from that month (or months) will be included in the next month’s draw.

Before being declared a winner, all selected entrants must first correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by telephone at a time mutually convenient for the entrant and the Contest Sponsor or its promotional agent.

5. RELEASE
Within fourteen (14) days of receipt thereof and before being declared a winner, each selected entrant will be required to sign and return the Contest Sponsor’s declaration and release form confirming eligibility, compliance with these Official Contest Rules and acceptance of prize as offered; acknowledging the non-responsibility of the Contest Sponsor in respect to injuries, accident, loss or misfortune relating to the contest or the awarding of the prize; acknowledging the Contest Sponsor’s right to publish or broadcast the winner's name, city/town of residence, and statements without further compensation other than the prize offered. If prize documents are not returned within fourteen (14) days, prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate entrant. Entrants must also confirm the originality and ownership of rights associated with their written submission, and grant worldwide rights to the Contest Sponsor for its use in perpetuity, or the prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate entrant.

By submitting written material to this contest, regardless of whether the contributor is eligible for a prize draw, the contributor confirms the originality and ownership of rights associated with their written submission, guarantees that it does not infringe the rights of any third party, and grants worldwide rights to the Contest Sponsor for its use in perpetuity. British Columbia Magazine reserves the worldwide right to publish or otherwise distribute written materials submitted to this contest, whether in editorial or promotional print materials, its websites or other electronic media.

6. ERRORS, ETC.
The Contest Sponsor is not responsible for (i) lost, late, incomplete, postage due, illegible, damaged, destroyed or misdirected mail/entries; (ii) telephone, technical, network, online, electronic, computer hardware or software failures of any kind; (iii) incomplete, garbled or delayed Internet/email computer transmissions on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof; (iv) any condition caused by events beyond its control which disrupts or interferes with the contest; or (v) any injury, loss or damage of any kind arising out of participant's participation in the contest or the acceptance, possession or use of the prize, including without limitation any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer relating to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this contest.

The Contest Sponsor extends absolutely no representations or warranties in respect of the prize. If for any reason the contest is not capable of running as planned or if the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the contest is corrupted or adversely affected, including by reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond its control, the Contest Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the electronic portion of the contest, including canceling any method of entry, and randomly select the winner from previously received entries. The Contest Sponsor reserves the right to amend the terms of this contest without prior notice if any factor interferes with its proper conduct as contemplated by these Rules.

7. MISCELLANEOUS
Prizes must be accepted as awarded with no substitutions, whether in cash or otherwise, except at the Contest Sponsor’s sole discretion.

The Contest Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equivalent or greater value if a prize cannot be awarded as described for any reason. Prizes will only be awarded to verified winners. All decisions of the Contest Sponsor or their authorized representatives are final and binding in all matters relating to this contest. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of the person making a submission by email, the entry will be deemed to have been submitted by the person whose name appears on the emailed contest entry and not the name of the owner of the email address.
